Italian as a Foreign Language
Would you like to learn Italian in Sicily? Come and visit us in Ragusa, the southernmost province of Sicily! Here, you can experience the great expertise of a qualified staff and the friendliness of local people. COURSES
The courses are held throughout the year, except in January and February. Lessons start every second Saturday of the month. They are held in the morning from Monday to Friday, and begin at 9.00 a.m.
TARGETS
Elementary level: to learn the basic structures, to understand easy texts and to practice ordinary conversations using elementary vocabulary.
Intermediate level: to widen grammar and vocabulary through their use in more complex contexts, and to develop listening skills through more difficult texts.
Advanced Level: to enhance listening and speaking skills, to learn idioms and phrases, to acquire elementary writing skills.

SCHOOL
Reusia “Centrolingue” (Language Centre), located in the town centre, is in one of the most panoramic parts of Ragusa. The modern furnished classrooms are equipped with audiovisual aids and other teaching material, essential for quick language learning.
STAFF
Reusia’s teaching staff consists of graduate Foreign and Italian Language Teachers, with a great experience in language teaching, both at home and abroad. Students attending an Italian course are also supported by a team of group leaders, who will guide them through the Art, Culture, and Nature treasures of the southernmost part of Sicily.
TEACHING METHOD AND AIDS
Reusia’s Language Courses are based on a communicative approach, aiming at developing the spoken language, together with listening and reading skills, so essential if you want to learn a language well. Writing is dealt with in Advanced Courses. Grammar and syntax structures are learned in an almost “spontaneous” way, by using them in role-playing situations created by the teacher during the lessons. Classrooms dynamics have an important role, too. Teachers employ imaginative didactic material developed by our school, such as authentic texts, tapes, videos, games, flashcards, posters, and so on, to make lessons as much varied and lively as possible.
CERTIFICATES
Our Italian language courses are acknowledged by the local Education Body. At the end of the course, students will receive a Certificate of Attendance. Reusia also provides the preparation for CILS examinations.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
Teachers, together with a staff of group leaders, organize guided tours to the most important Sicilian towns, excursions through the territory, meetings with local people, and evenings at bars or pizzerias. Those students who prefer to devote themselves to study can stay at school all afternoon and read Italian books, watch videos of famous Italian films, playing games or simply chat. We also offer a special “Tandem-Partner Service”, in which students and local inhabitants can meet to practice conversation in their respective mother tongue.
ACCOMMODATION
Reusia proposes its holiday-houses located in town, at the seaside and in the countryside, and whose standard, with their furniture, cleanliness and other services are guaranteed. On request, you can stay at a 3 star hotel in Ragusa or in a seaside resort in the nearby. Those who prefer the tranquility of the countryside can choose an agri-hotel (traditional country houses).
